Common Threads Media is a personal project started by David Swain. David is also working to start a new platform for athletes called Prokit. 

Common Threads is the result of what David witnessed over nearly two decades in the trenches with some of the top leaders in business and tech. From inside two of the fastest growing companies of our generation, he saw many leaders at Facebook, Instagram and around the industry emerge out of sheer necessity. But it wasn’t their impact at work that sat with him, it was how some of these women and men approached life’s bigger challenges at the same time. They seemingly understood that to succeed at work, their relationships, and mental, physical and emotional health had to be approached with the same level of discipline. 

As the head of communications at Instagram, David was responsible for setting the direction of the company’s global communication programs. Before joining Instagram in early 2013, David was Director of Technology Communications at Facebook, where he led the team responsible for communications related to Facebook Platform and the company’s strategic partnerships.

Before joining Facebook in 2008, David spent many years at communication’s firms Text 100 and Blanc & Otus working with clients like IBM, eBay, and multiple venture capitalists.

David holds a BS in Psychology and Economics from St. Lawrence University. He serves as an advisory board member to Strava, the global community of athletes.
